Bo Kimble's early life and education
Gregory Kevin "Bo" Kimble was born on April 9, 1966, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played prep basketball with Hank Gathers at Dobbins Technical High School in Philadelphia. During their senior year, the pair led the team to the Public League City championship in 1985.
Both Gathers and Kimble were recruited to the University of Southern California (USC) by head coach Stan Morrison and his assistant, David Spencer. They were joined by high school All-American, Tom Lewis, and Rich Grande as the "Four Freshmen" star recruiting class. However, after Morrison and Spencer were fired following the 1985-86 season, Kimble and Gathers transferred together to Loyola Marymount University (LMU).
As per NCAA rules, Kimble and Gathers had to sit out the 1986-87 season.
