Russell Jay Kuntz, popularly known as Rusty Kuntz, is an American baseball coach and former Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder. He was born on February 4, 1955, in Orange, California, and grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and California.
Kuntz played baseball, basketball, and football in high school and community college. Although he enjoyed basketball more due to the pace of the game, he excelled in baseball. In his senior year as an outfielder for the Bearcats, he was selected for the All-CIF Second Team honours in 1973. Following high school, Kuntz attended Cuesta College, where he continued to play all three sports, making his mark in baseball. In 1975, he batted .442 as a sophomore and was named to the Junior College All-Star team.
