Suhas Yathiraj: gold in MS SL4
Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, also known as Suhas Yathiraj, is an Indian para-badminton player and the World No. 1 in men's singles. Yathiraj was born in Hassan, Karnataka, India, on 2 July 1983. He is a computer science engineer who graduated from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka, in 2004. Yathiraj is also an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer of the 2007 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has served as the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar and Prayagraj and is currently the Secretary and Director-General of Youth Welfare and Prantiya Rakshak Dal under the Uttar Pradesh government.
Yathiraj won the gold medal at the National Para Badminton Championships in 2018 and became the first Indian bureaucrat to win a professional International Badminton Championship at the 2016 Asian Para Badminton Championships in Beijing, China.
