He is best known for his association with the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA), with whom he won eight NBA championship rings as a player. Jones was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers in the 11th round of the 1955 NBA Draft, and then by the Boston Celtics in the 2nd round of the 1956 NBA Draft.
