Boat Defense is a unique combat feature in Clash Royale's Clan Wars, where players create a boat defense for enemies to attack and also craft an 8-card deck to attack the opponent's boat defense. The objective is to build a robust boat defense to waste the enemy's attacks and win the clan war. Each defensive tower spawns a troop when attacked, and the order in which troops are deployed is predetermined. The boat defense towers do not have unlimited elixir, and their elixir fills up at a faster rate than usual. A recommended strategy is to have a heavy defense with buildings in the central tower, such as Tesla, Inferno Tower, or Bomb Tower. Additionally, including at least one ranged unit and a heavy tank in all towers is suggested. Effective defensive troops include Pekka, Mega Knight, Giant Skeleton, 3 Musketeers, Arrows, Magic Archers, and Sparky.
What You'll Learn
Elixir Collectors and Mirror Deck
Using the Mirror with Elixir Collectors can be a powerful strategy as it allows players to place multiple Elixir Collectors simultaneously, sharply increasing their Elixir production. This gives players a significant advantage, allowing them to defend against almost any push. However, this strategy can backfire if the opponent takes advantage of the player's temporary lack of Elixir.
To mitigate this risk, players can have some cheap troops ready as a backup. Additionally, it is important to note that the Elixir Collector is vulnerable to spells like Fireball, which can destroy it if it is 2 levels higher. Therefore, it is recommended to place the Elixir Collector when the opponent has already used their Fireball or similar spell.
The Elixir Collector and Mirror strategy can be further enhanced by using the Rage spell on the Collectors, increasing Elixir production. However, this is generally not advisable as it results in an Elixir deficit.
When using the Elixir Collector, placement is crucial. Placing it behind the Crown Tower makes it vulnerable to Rocket spells, while placing it in the middle protects it from Poison and Earthquake spells but makes it a target for the Miner and Goblin Drill.
The Elixir Collector and Mirror strategy is a double-edged sword. While it offers the potential for a strong defensive position, it requires careful management and consideration of the opponent's tactics.

Clan Wars Rewards
Clan Wars in Clash Royale offer players the chance to win some great rewards, including special chests, Magic Items, and resources. The Clan Wars are ongoing, and each war lasts for 4-5 weeks, with 1 "River Race" per week. Clans compete against four other clans for rewards and Clan Trophies.
The first three days of a Clan War are Training Days, where boats cannot be attacked or progress on the river. The final four days are Battle Days, where boats can be attacked and progress is possible. Participating in battles rewards players with Medals and Gold. The goal is to reach the River Race finish line before the other clans.
Once a clan reaches the finish line, they receive a special chest with rewards based on their placement. Clans that don't reach the finish line still receive a chest, as long as they've participated in enough battles. Clans that don't play enough battles will receive a small reward in the form of a boot.
The River Race rewards are based on placement. The higher the placement, the better the cards and gold awarded. Finishing first in any league guarantees a Legendary card inside the River Chest. Clan Trophies are earned by the clans that place first and second, and these indicate success in Clan Wars.
In addition to these rewards, players can also earn up to 3,200 gold per day and help their team win the weekly battle, which grants a big crate filled with cards of different rarities, including Legendary cards, and gold.

Boat Defence Troops
- Choose troops with high Elixir values: Since troops do not require any Elixir to deploy, players can select troops with high Elixir values without worrying about losing their Elixir advantage.
- Order of troops: The order in which troops are deployed is predetermined, with the card in the leftmost slot spawning first, followed by the second, third, and fourth slotted cards. This order ensures that the boat defence functions as intended by the player.
- Elixir refill rate: Boat defence towers do not have unlimited Elixir. Their Elixir refills at a rate of about 4 to 4.5 times the normal rate. A destroyed tower will continue to spawn cards at a slower rate, about one-third of the original speed.
- Spawn rules: Different cards have different spawn rules. Ranged units like a Musketeer or a Dart Goblin spawn at the back, while tanks and buildings spawn in front of a tower. Counter-push or bridge spam troops like Ram and Hog Riders spawn on the opposite line to the one being attacked.
- Building placement: Place buildings in your central tower, as they will always spawn in front of the tower they are slotted into. Recommended buildings include Tesla, Inferno Tower, and Bomb Tower.
- Troop selection: Choose a mix of ranged units and heavy tanks for your defence. Recommended tanks include Pekka, Mega Knight, and Giant Skeleton. Avoid using Golems, Lava Hounds, or Giants as they can be easily killed by attackers. For ranged units, consider using Three Musketeers, Arrows, Magic Archers, or Wizards. These units can help clear swarms and tanks. Other excellent defensive options include Sparky, Royal Recruits, Bowler, Prince, Hunter, and E-wiz.
- Offensive strategy: For offence, stick to quick, fast, bridge-spamming troops like Hog Rider and Ram Rider. These troops can exploit the empty opposite lane and take out the attacker's King Tower.

Attacking Strategies
The best boat defence in Clash Royale is a highly debated topic, with many different strategies and card combinations to consider. Here are some attacking strategies you can use to optimise your gameplay and defeat your opponents:
Firstly, it's important to understand that boat defence is a unique type of combat where troops are placed in storage and deployed when attacked by opponents. This means that you should focus on selecting high-value troops with large hitpoints and the ability to target structures.
One effective strategy is to utilise cards such as Pekka, Golem, Three Musketeers, and Royal Giant. Pekka saves storage, Golem diverts the attention of enemy troops, Three Musketeers can assault strong air troops, and the Royal Giant can attack the enemy's tower. This combination ensures coverage on both ground and air fronts, making it difficult for your opponent to defend.
Another powerful combination is Giant Skeleton, Goblin Giant, Elite Barbarians, and Ram Rider. The Giant Skeleton can absorb significant damage, while the Goblin Giant and Elite Barbarians attack enemy troops. The Ram Rider then comes into play as a strong building-targeting troop that can easily take down structures.
Additionally, consider using Electro Giant, Royal Recruits, Mega Knight, and Sparky. Electro Giant is one of the strongest cards in the game and can easily take down an opponent's tower. Royal Recruits and Mega Knight are excellent for attacking, and Sparky can be deadly if it generates electric power.
When attacking, it's crucial to remember that defensive towers will not spawn troops unless they take damage. Therefore, you should aim to deal significant damage with each attack, utilising heavy-hitting cards. Additionally, the order in which your defensive troops spawn matters. The card in the leftmost slot will spawn first, followed by the second, third, and fourth slotted cards. Keep this in mind when strategising your attacks.
Lastly, while building your deck, remember that boat defence towers do not have unlimited elixir. Their elixir fills up at a faster rate than usual, and a destroyed tower will continue to spawn cards but at a slower speed. Take advantage of this knowledge by dealing heavy damage to your opponent's towers early on in the game.

Recommended Buildings
While there is no one-size-fits-all solution for boat defence in Clash Royale, there are some general strategies and recommended buildings that can improve your defence. Here are some tips to help you build a strong boat defence:
Firstly, it is important to remember that defensive towers will not spawn troops unless they take damage. The order in which your defensive troops spawn also matters; the card in the leftmost slot will spawn first, followed by the second, third, and fourth slotted cards. Additionally, boat defence towers have a limited elixir supply, which fills up at a faster rate than usual. A destroyed tower will continue to spawn cards but at a slower pace.
When considering which buildings to include in your boat defence, it is recommended to use Tesla, Inferno Tower, and Bomb Tower as they are effective in defending against various types of attacks. Place at least one ranged unit and a heavy tank in all your towers. Recommended tanks include Pekka, Mega Knight, and Giant Skeleton. Avoid using Golem, Lava Hound, or Giant as they can be easily defeated and may provide your opponent with an opportunity to build a strong counter-push.
To counter clone spells, which are commonly used by boat attackers, include ranged units such as Three Musketeers, Arrows, Magic Archers, or Wizards in your defence. Sparky, Royal Recruits, Bowler, Prince, Hunter, and E-wiz are also excellent defensive options that can deal significant damage.
By following these recommendations and adapting them to your own card collection and playstyle, you can create a strong boat defence in Clash Royale that will give your opponents a hard time.
