The UTSA men's basketball team, also known as the Roadrunners, compete in Division I of the NCAA. The team is currently led by Houston native Austin Claunch, who was named the seventh head coach of the programme on March 17, 2024.
Claunch, who played high school basketball at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in his hometown, started his coaching career in 2012-13 as the Director of Player Development at George Mason. He then moved on to Clemson, where he spent two years as a graduate manager and one year as an assistant coach. During his time at Clemson, he primarily coordinated video services for the team. Following his stint at Clemson, Claunch served as an assistant coach for the Colonels under head coach Richie Riley at South Alabama.
