The Providence Friars men's basketball team represents Providence College in NCAA Division I competition. They were a founding member of the original Big East Conference from 1979 until 2013 and are now part of the current Big East Conference. Kasean Pryor's college basketball conference
Kasean Pryor, a forward for the University of Louisville's men's basketball team, plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Pryor has had an impressive college basketball career so far. In his senior year, he averaged 13.0 points and 7.9 rebounds while shooting 44.7% from the floor and 81.5% from the free-throw line. Prior to joining Louisville, Pryor spent the 2023-24 season at South Florida, appearing in 32 games with 21 starts. His performances earned him a spot on the South Florida Bulls highlight reels for games against Tulsa Golden Hurricane, VCU Rams, and UAB Blazers.
Pryor's father, Sean, also played basketball at Oregon State before turning professional in France and Puerto Rico. Kasean majors in applied sciences with a concentration in leadership and has expressed a personal goal of making March Madness.

The Friars' basketball journey began in 1921 when the school fielded its first basketball team, albeit informally. Big East Conference members
The Big East Conference was founded in 1979 by Providence College basketball coach Dave Gavitt, who wanted to create an east coast basketball-centric collegiate athletic conference. The original members were Providence, St. John's, Georgetown, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Connecticut (UConn), and Boston College (BC).
Over the years, the conference has undergone several changes, with members departing and new schools joining. In 1991, the Big East began sponsoring football, adding Miami as a full member and Rutgers, Temple, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia as football-only members. In 2005 and the early 2010s, the conference was severely impacted by realignment, with 14 schools departing and 15 new schools announcing plans to join.
As of 2013, the Big East Conference split into two groups: the football-playing schools and the "Catholic 7" non-FBS schools (DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, and Villanova). The Catholic 7 were motivated by a desire to return to Gavitt's original vision of a strong, Northeast-based, and basketball-focused conference. The football-playing members formed the American Athletic Conference (AAC), which is the legal successor to the old Big East.
In 2013, three new schools joined the Catholic 7: Butler, Creighton, and Xavier. The University of Connecticut (UConn) also "re-joined" the conference in 2020, becoming the only member with a varsity football team in the top-level Division I FBS.
